An estimated 200-thousand high school learners have dropped out of school in Gauteng over the last three years. But Gauteng is not the only province with high drop-out rates. In less than two weeks, over half a million grade 12 pupils will be writing their final matric examinations. This is only about half of the 1, 1 million that started Grade 1 in 2002. But what happened to the other half a million? Why are we seeing such high dropout rates in our schools? On the Forum@8 this morning we ask; how do we keep our learners in school?
