It has been my experience that White conservatives treat race conversations like the third rail. Part of it is that they are uncomfortable talking about race for fear of expressing an incorrect viewpoint out loud. Political correctness has made White folks terrified of open conversations about any number of topics and race is one of them. Some well-meaning White people have introduced the concept of being color-blind. You've heard them, they swear that they "don't see color" Unless you have had your eyes poked out, you see color. The measure is not that you notice not more what you do once you do notice.
