SUMMER IN PSALMS
PSALMS 51
Pastor Grant Perry

We want to see victims restored but what do we do with perpetrators?

God wants to restore both victims and perpetrators.

2 Samuel 11 and 12 tells the story of David’s greatest failure. He took advantage of Bathsheba. David murdered her husband to cover his sin.  The prophet Nathan calls David out on his sin.

Psalms 51 is David’s response to the conviction in his heart after being confronted by the prophet.

Psalms 51:1-19

We all have issues that can mark our life but God has the ability to redeem and change the narrative of how we are remembered.

4 key points found in this chapter -

  1. Only hope is in God’s nature.
  2. David acknowledges his corrupted nature and accepts judgement.
  3. He ask for a clean heart and the hope of restoration.
  4. David gives God his affection through worship.
