Genesis 22 functions as a single literary unit. In this section we are learning about the testing of one's faith in general. In particular, of course, we are looking at the testing of Abraham's faith. 

In vv. 1-2 we see that 1) God tests the faithfulness of believers by asking them to surrender to him the best they have.

In vv. 3-10 we learn that 2) Faithful believers are willing to surrender their best and trust the Lord with all aspects of provision and outcome.
