As we begin discussing Genesis 46, we learn that in addition to God calling his people out of Egypt (Hos. 11:1), that he also sends them into Egypt, as we are seeing in this chapter.

In vv. 1-7 we learn that 1) Leaving one place from which God has led a person to another may require a reassurance of God’s promises.
