In chapter 42, we are covering the narrative section where Joseph's brothers are driven to the land of Egypt because of the famine, and one of the themes that emerges is the idea that "Be Sure Your Sin Will Find You Out."

In vv. 1-5 we learned that 1) God uses natural circumstances to bring about his will.

Now, in vv. 6-28 we see that 2) God’s leaders must be able to discern the character of those who would participate in God’s program.

And, in vv. 29-38 we learn that 3) God’s people may desire to do right, but will find it difficult while sin is still in the way.
