In this chapter we examine the topic of Mingling with Pagans. We learn from this that We need to demonstrate genuine faith.

In vv. 1-3 we learned that 1) Mingling with pagans inevitably leads to defilement.

Then, in vv. 4-24 we saw that 2) Defilement often excites drastic reactions by those who are zealous but immature – especially when leaders are indifferent.

Now, in vv. 25-31 we learn that 3) Excessive acts of vengeance by believers profane the faith of the covenant community.
