This entire chapter deals with Jacob recognizing that the time to leave has come.

In vv. 1-16 we looked at the idea that we can 1) Recognize the signs to leave.

Then, in vv. 17-21 we saw that 2) God’s people ought to exercise faith in the midst of difficult circumstances and strive to avoid petty retribution.

Now, in vv. 22-55 we note that 3) God will protect those whom he calls in their obedience.
