According to the CDC, one person dies every 34 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States.

On The Spark Wednesday we heard the story of a Lancaster man who has a heart condition and recovered from open heart surgery by doing a drawing a day. When Jerome Hershey created the art for his art series, BREATH, he said, it was like inhaling and exhaling. He and his wife Shelley Hershey joined us to share their story in honor of American Heart Month.
