About 697,000 people die of heart disease in the United States every year–that's 1 in every 5 deaths.

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common type of heart disease, killing approximately 382,820 people annually. Every year about 805,000 Americans have a heart attack. Those numbers come from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

While many are thinking about hearts on Valentine's Day, The Spark focused on heart health.
