In the Bible, especially the Apostle Paul’s letters to groups of followers of Christ in various cities he is reminding the readers to leave behind the old ways and to stop identifying in who they were. He consistently reminds them of who they are now that they have made themselves followers of The Gospel as part of their new identity.
