Panorama PodcastBecause our relationship to a film doesn’t end with the final scene nor with these words, ‘The End’, and as the Panorama of European Film is a chance for cinema audiences to watch films from around the world and engage in a conversation about them, this edition, we bring you the Panorama Podcast. Consisting of three episodes, we will chat together and discuss films, broadening our minds as we share opinions and reflections regarding our program for this year. Prepare yourselves to listen to our podcast this year as we’ve hosted filmmakers and critics, offering them the space to discuss the films in this edition’s program. We hope you engage with all that you hear on the podcast and that our episodes are your companions and friends throughout this year’s edition of the Panorama of European Film. For the first episode, we asked all our guests about one film they would not miss in this year’s program and then asked them: why? This episode can help you prepare your schedules so you don’t miss any must-watch films! Are you curious about who picked which film? The second episode is solely dedicated to the Polish film director, Krzysztof Kieślowski (1941 - 1996) whom we are celebrating this edition. Kieślowski created his own special world which we dive into, reflecting on it, stopping at each aesthetic determinant as we try to take it in. Our third and last episode of this year’s podcast is a special on the Panorama section: “Uncanny Movies On Screen”. The films in this section all present us with unfamiliar cinematic touches. We try to read them and decipher their meanings in the episode. We ask if anything about the unusual cinematic languages in this section can be related to any films in our Egypt context.
