By 2021, worldwide video games sales are expected to hit $140 billion – Last year there were over two billion gamers in the world. Although still male dominated, around 41% of gamers in 2020 were female. AbleGamers estimates that there are 33 million gamers with disabilities in the US alone. Numbers for LGBTQ+ and BIPOC gamers are unreliable and under researched. What we do know is that all these groups are underrepresented within the gaming world.The designers and developers are still largely white and male. Representation in games is rare and too often stereotypical.We want to explore what life is like for feminist gamers.
