We are in a new age of publishing where the author has more creative control over how their book goes to market. Many have turned to self-publishing to break past the gatekeepers within traditional publishing. With as many as 50,000 new books being added to Amazon each month, and over 90,000 books about self-publishing on Amazon, we have learned two things: 1) The competition for selling books is only getting fiercer and most self-published books lack the polish and craft of traditionally published books.2) If you need a guidebook to step you through the process, you're not at the top of your publishing game. How should a new author get published? Does #Booktok really help to sell books? My name is Josh Weber, I work with the hybrid publisher Calumet Editions, and this podcast explores these questions plus features conversations with the authors Calumet Editions has published, interviews with industry professionals and my own personal insights gleaned over years within the publishing industry.
